Food insecurity is a huge problem in America. Statistics show that 44 million Americans, from young to old, are food insecure. Another surprising number? One hundred percent of the counties in our fifty states report hungry citizens, meaning hunger is coming to every corner of the country. And it’s not just people who have trouble eating. So are their pets. With roughly two-thirds of US homes having cats and dogs, many families struggle to provide regular meals for their furries and often turn to sharing human food with their pets.
But thanks to you, families can stay together and give their cats and dogs the balanced pet food they need. When you shop at iHeartDogs, every purchase funds donations for dogs in need. Whether you’re buying a cute dog shirt for yourself or supplements for your pooch, that cart full of goodies gives compassion. Through our partnership with Greater Good Charities, we ensure that shelter cats receive food and other necessities while waiting for their forever homes.
Good Deeds Keep Families Together
To date, the GOODS Program has delivered over 578 million meals to shelters and rescues across the country. That’s over 6,000 truckloads of hungry animals! But it’s not just about food. GOODS ensures that cats and dogs stay with families that love them. And as a recipient of these donations, the Gilmer Community Food Pantry is very grateful to be a part of keeping families together.
The Gilmer Food Pantry is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to relieving the stress and burdens of food insecurity in their Georgia community. By 2023, the pantry has served more than 400 families, ensuring that both people and their precious pets can eat. The GOODS program is an integral part of their operation.
“The GOODS Program prevents low-income families from giving up or abandoning their pets,” explains the Gilmer Community Food Pantry.
And even though GOODS does the heavy lifting, delivering all the cans and sacks of food, you fund it with your great taste. So, keep shopping to continue making a difference to families in need.
