LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) – A group of young animal lovers are looking to hold their “500 Pounds of Love” Pet Food Drive and are asking the community to help them reach their goal.
Meghan Leyendecker and Stephanie Lozano started their 2022 campaign after noticing the influx of stray dogs in our community and the need for more help.
Concerned about the welfare of these homeless pets, both Leyendecker and Lozano decided to start their own non-profit that aims to collect pet food through food drives and give back to local groups of pets in Laredo.
The ladies will host their third annual “500 Pounds of Love” pet food drive this Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Walmart located at Loop 20 and International Boulevard from 1 pm to 5 pm
All donations will go to the Laredo Animal Protective Society, Pets Alive Laredo, and Best Friends for Life.
Community service hours will be awarded to students who help the cause.
