When you shop at the iHeartDogs store, some of that money goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that supports many animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other essential supplies to animal shelters and rescues. Those donations can save lives for many dogs, including an abandoned former pain dog named Duke.
The poor Duke faced some of the most horrific events in his early life. Someone threw him out of a moving car at a busy intersection. The car slowed down and someone threw an innocent puppy out the window without stopping. Someone from Helping Paws Animal Rescue in Oklahoma rushed to her rescue, only to find that she was extremely weak and covered in “road rash” from sliding on the bumpy asphalt road.
Duke’s rescuers suspect he was used as a bait dog before being dumped. Bait dogs are chained during dog fights so that the fighting dogs can attack them repeatedly. This is a horrible situation that no dog should ever have to go through.
Despite being used to dog fighting, Duke doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. He was very sweet to every person and animal he met.
Duke discovers Love
Since being rescued, Duke has learned that people and dogs can be kind, and he’s getting more comfortable every day. Sometimes he will even let small dogs use him as a pillow or stepping stool.
“He is the most faithful companion!” Helping Paws Animal Rescue wrote. “He is ready for anything at any time. Car rides, golf cart rides, and toys! He loves helping with chores, which means he’s right up my alley.”
The GOODS Program helps rescues like this feed the dogs in their care. Because of those food donations, rescues can save money on food and use their funds for other areas of care like veterinary needs. Thus, they are able to take more dogs from rags to riches than they normally would.
When you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping dogs like Duke experience the love they deserve. These donations can be life-changing for dogs with difficult pasts, so thank you to all the heroes who purchase products to help dogs in need.
