Why Your Local Pets Holiday Gift Donations Make a Difference
It’s that time of year again – take the time to lend your support to HCAL’s end-of-holiday fundraising campaign. If you’re not familiar with our ongoing efforts to raise money for the benefit of area pets, you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. At HCAL, we are excited about the impact you and your fellow donors make each year on the health and welfare of the animals in our care.
For starters, our year-end giving campaign, which runs from November 28 (#GivingTuesday) to December 31, aims to support low-income pet owners who often struggle to provide for their dogs and cats the primary care they need. Donations allow us to offer special discounts for pet care services without sacrificing quality care for those with financial need.
Second, animal overpopulation puts a terrible strain on local resources. Many dogs and cats end up in shelters too often because they are forced to destroy them. You can imagine how we – and any animal lover – feel. Sterilization by spaying or neutering can significantly reduce this problem, leaving more resources for more animals. (It also offers important health benefits of its own.) Donations allow us to make these procedures more affordable for low-income pet owners.
But what does your donation actually achieve? Check out these numbers:
- $15 provides vaccinations for dogs and cats.
- $25 could mean a microchip that helps an owner recover a lost pet.
- $50 covers the cost of a complex spay or neuter surgery.
- $150 keeps spay and neuter prices affordable for everyone.
See what a difference a donation makes? Whether you make a one-time donation or a recurring donation, you’re creating a better world for our beloved pets. What better way to play “Santa Paws” this holiday season? Give now to help us reach our year-end fundraising goal.
