Senate Unanimously Advances Bipartisan Conservation Bill
The sportfishing industry applauded the passage of America’s Conservation Enhancement (ACE) Reauthorization Act (S. 3791) by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. The bipartisan legislation received unanimous approval and includes ASA priorities to strengthen fish habitat protections and improve fishing access.
“We want to thank Chairman Carper, Ranking Member Capito, and the rest of the Committee for realizing the benefits of these programs for fishermen and businesses that depend on intact fish habitat and clean water,” said Mike Leonard, Vice President of Government Affairs at ASA.

The California quillback rockfish took center stage during the Pacific Fisheries Management Council (PFMC) meeting in Fresno, California. Kentucky SB3 Threatens Fish and Wildlife Conservation Funding
Kentucky’s fisheries attract anglers from all over the country. Funded by anglers and sportsmen, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) manages these fisheries, keeping fishing opportunities abundant throughout the Bluegrass State.
SB3 poses a serious threat to the future of KDFWR by attaching KDFWR to the Department of Agriculture, allowing the Commissioner of Agriculture to fill KDFWR Commission seats and opening the department up to political interests.
