OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking public input on an updated version of its fishing app: Fish Washington 2.0.
A mobile application used to provide fishing regulations for every lake, river, stream and sea in Washington, Fish Washington 2.0 addresses issues reported by users from the previous, original version.
Fish Washington 2.0 has been rewritten and scaled down to require less than half the storage space of the previous app. It also features design techniques to help it use less data while still running smoothly. Choosing to use separate code bases for iOS and Android platforms also reduces the frequency and size of app updates. New features also include location-enabled USGS river gauges as well as tide charts, more consistent delivery of emergency regulations and map upgrades.
The new version of the application is also ad-free.
Now in its final phase of beta testing for the app, WDFW is seeking public input to allow its development team to continue to improve the app’s features. Everyone is invited to give their input. The app can be downloaded from the WDFW website and public comments can be sent to [email protected].
Fish Washington 2.0 will officially launch this spring.
