My human tried something a little different for my therapy cat visit at the children’s hospital this week. With all our needs, he packed my bell. So I have to call it for a couple of kids in the lobby. They loved it, and so did their parents. I did tricks for some patients, which always made people happy.
There are many exam rooms to visit at this time, and many children in wheelchairs. As I’ve said before, you’re never quite sure what the patients are for here, and although the focus is often on orthopedics, that covers a lot of things, from playground injuries to birth defects.
The first boy I saw was in a wheelchair with a leg bag on his lap. He enjoyed me so much! We had a great time visiting, and I even gave him head. When my man offered to take a picture, his mother covered his lap with a jacket to hide the bag.
Next we saw a girl with an arm injury which fortunately was not serious. It sure didn’t stop him from kissing me. He was very happy that I was there. The next patient was the same, an old lady wearing disposable exam shorts. He sat on the floor to visit me, and when my man pulled out the camera for a picture, he knew exactly how he wanted to pose.
We also visited a boy in a wheelchair who has two sisters and they all love cats! The boy’s wheelchair was large, compared to his small body, meaning there was room for me to sit next to him. He loved that. Her two sisters came over and caressed me, so little hands surrounded me. I’ve actually been in this position a few times at events, and usually I don’t care. But because I was stuck in a wheelchair, my person watched over me to make sure I wasn’t stressed. I’m fine, but I think he lost his energy!
As you can tell, it was a very nice visit. I should bring the bell more often when I visit the children’s hospital.
