Since the dawn of the Internet, there have been dog videos. Dogs have traditionally become celebrities through social media and video sharing websites, but with the advancement of technology, so have pet owners’ camera skills. Today, a scroll through the dog side of TikTok can show you almost anything, from quick and informative tidbits from vets to feature films about a dog’s vacation. Nothing is forbidden!
But since dog videos first became popular, there are certain ‘genres’ of clips that never fail to fail. Dog zooms, funny sleeping positions, and even Husky ‘talking’ are always loved, but nothing makes people laugh as much as dogs in shoes.
On March 3, the owner of Fettuccine the weenie (AKA the Dachshund) posted the silliest video of him wearing his new protective booties for the first time. He had the exact reaction I was hoping to see, and I think this video is an instant classic.
LOL! Sorry for the laugh, Fettuccine, but this is so cute! I couldn’t help but smile from the moment I saw this Crocs dog at the puppy food, but when he started jumping up and down and moving around, I almost lost it. And I’m not the only one!

Some commenters had great questions for the sausage dog shoe model, including whether Croc charms could be added to them. Isn’t that cute? This is likely to be a safety issue for dogs who chew, however, so I don’t expect that addition to be announced anytime soon. Maybe the shoes could have more patterns instead!
Currently, WagWear boots, called WagWellies, come in 8 colors for dog owners to choose from. There are two styles of dog boots to choose from, too. The traditional WagWellies are fully enclosed and great for wet weather paw protection, while the WagWellies Mojave look just like the Crocs we all know and love.
Why Should Dogs Wear Shoes?
Dog shoes may look adorable (and they are) but they have some benefits for the pups who wear them as well. During the winter, boots can keep feet dry, warm, and protected against irritants like deicing chemicals and road salt. In summer, the same thing applies! Your dog’s feet can stay cool and protected in their boots, even when the temperature rises.
Shoes for dogs can also be beneficial if a dog suffers from allergies or itchy feet. It’s not always easy to tell what’s causing your pup’s itchy paws, but dog allergies to an environmental trigger–such as grass–can be surprisingly common.
As Fettuccine proves, dog boots aren’t always easy to get used to. But with a little time and patience, most puppies will learn to tolerate them if necessary!
