Forget flowers and chocolates! If you want to give a meaningful gift this Valentine’s Day that can truly save a shelter pet’s life, look no further.
At many shelters across the country, demand for pets is low as the supply of new dogs and cats entering shelters increases. In such situations, Shelters often euthanize perfectly healthy petssimply because there are not enough new adopters coming in the immediate geographic area.
How to solve this problem? Enter the Second Chance Movement created by iHeartDogs with their partners at Greater Good Charities.
This Valentine’s Day, their goal is to fund the flight of 50 dogs and 40 cats – moving pets at risk for euthanasia from shelters in Louisiana to safety in New Jersey, where demand is higher for to adopted pets.
However, funding this flight is no easy feat – the average rescue flight costs up to $30,000. There are about 24 hours left (as of this writing) the flight is about half way funded.
How Can I Help?
