No adoptions to report this week, but we wonder why Astra and Ursa are still here.
Astra and Ursa are a mother and son pair of harlequin Great Danes. Astra is eight years old, while Ursa is five and the older of the two, and each has one blue eye. These girls may be big but they are gentle giants, giant couch potatoes who don’t need much exercise. Both are friendly, well behaved, get along with other dogs, cats and children of all ages.
If you’re not a dog person and prefer a cat, Jerry is a four-year-old, male, black and white cat with artistic markings on his legs. Benny is an eight-year-old, rag doll mix who has inherited stunning blue eyes. We are looking for a special angel for Benny as he suffers from diabetes and needs insulin injections. However, he is a charming and loving fellow.
Save the date for the next nail clinic, which will take place on Saturday, March 2 from 10 am to 1 pm; walk-in only, $20 cash or check. All Pets Medical Centers will be back on Saturday, Feb. 17. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your pet, please contact them at 508-743-8338.
Did you know that if someone comes to the shelter with poverty, we will give them food for their pet? We also provide pet food to the Island Food Pantry.

Also, if anyone needs cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just call us during regular business hours at 508-627-8662.
