Jamie Cross, 35, set up Tiptree Pet Foodbank from his home in 2022.
The food bank received donations from Pets at Home Maldon and Chelmsford, Tiptree Veterinary Centre, Clarks Farm Greyhound Rehoming Centre, residents of Tiptree and the surrounding areas.
Donations have helped residents struggling with the cost of living crisis, as well as animal charities short on food supplies.
She donates food as well as pets such as metal feeding bowls, towels, sheets, blankets, collars, leads and toys.
Ms Cross hopes someone can step forward to take over the food bank which has helped so many.
He currently runs the service by storing donated pet food in two sheds in his back garden.
He said: “I’m sad it has to close, but storage is always a big problem.
“I currently run it out of my back garden.
“I have two Keter sheds that I use and anything that is easily accessible like bags of dry food goes in the boxes to deter mice.
“It’s not sad enough.”
He regularly collects donations from Chelmsford and Maldon, stores and logs stock and arranges and delivers parcels on request.
Many of the people he helps are said to be elderly or working families who are struggling to make ends meet.
Ms Cross said: “I think my biggest thing is that people shouldn’t be forced to choose between feeding themselves or their pets, especially if they own said pets. for many years.
“Pets are a huge support to people, boosting their mental health and often helping them stay on task.
“The various people who have used my food bank are more prominent in the state of the country, because they all work with families or older owners in difficult situations due to circumstances beyond their control. ”
