In Brisbane, Australia, David and his family enjoyed a lively afternoon with friends in a large outdoor space. Two-year-old Alexander is expected to play with Leala, the family’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier. However, concern arose when the boy suddenly disappeared from sight, unnoticed by anyone. Sensing something was wrong, the 9-year-old dog, Leala, began tugging at David’s clothes, but at first, David dismissed the dog’s behavior as unimportant.

When David pointed out that Leala was soaking wet and barking at him, she started barking more chaotically. The man followed the worried dog to the nearest dam, unaware that his son was missing. David’s life was ruined when he first noticed his son’s lifeless body floating in the water. After an apparent drowning incident, Alexander is not breathing and Leala clearly tries to help him on her own. The father and his friends performed CPR on the boy in the following minutes as a result of which he started breathing again.

Alexander was in a coma in the hospital for two days. His vital signs were stable, but he had suffered a major brain injury. Doctors became frustrated as hope dwindled and prepared the parents for the worst–that Alexander would die or be severely disabled. After 48 hours of anxiety in a comatose state, Alexander woke up. As Alexander’s treatment continued over the next few months, medical professionals were amazed at the final results–he not only survived but made a full recovery!

Doctors credit Alexander’s survival to timely CPR, but David is sure that everything depends on his faithful dog. The consequences would have been fatal if the guardian angel had not alerted him in time. Leala is a true blue hero and we adore her!
