MAUMEE, OHIO, US — Andersons has added to its pet food portfolio with the completion of its purchase of ACJ International and its subsidiaries, an ingredient, logistics, and supply chain management company focused on the pet food ingredient industry.
“The pet food industry continues to increase its demand for high quality and responsibly sourced ingredients,” said Weston Heide, senior vice president for The Andersons Trade and Processing. “This acquisition expands our portfolio of ingredients while also enhancing our supply chain services throughout the central US region to provide additional support for our customers in the pet food markets.”
The purchase includes ACJ’s headquarters in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, US, and its facility locations in Joplin, Missouri; Webb City, Missouri; and Monroe, Wisconsin. Financial terms were not disclosed.
ACJ sources quality ingredients and offers them whole or ground and in bulk, totes or bags for the convenience of the customer. Some of the most popular ingredients include barley, brewers yeast, dry yeast, peas, sweet potatoes, garbanzo beans, carrots, animal proteins and animal meal. The company offers global supply chain management, dry ingredients blending, warehousing and fulfillment, transloading by truck or rail, repackaging and grinding among its services.
“We are excited to join an organization with such a rich history and deep roots in agriculture,” said Michael Peterson, president of ACJ International LLC. “Being part of The Andersons will give our customers access to an expanded portfolio of ingredients and services while maintaining high standards of quality, integrity, and transparency.”
The purchase of ACJ follows The Andersons’ acquisition of Bridge Agri Partners in November. Bridge Agri Partners specializes in supplying ingredients to the pet food industry in the central region of the United States and Canada.
