A popular pet retailer in Concord, California, has released its latest campaign. With this initiative, Pet Food Express aims to help shelters and rescue organizations deal with the high influx of kittens. The campaign is called “Kitten Season” and is an annual campaign that lasts for a month.
The Pet Food Express Kitten Season campaign helps cats find foster and forever homes
Pet Food Express is focusing on helping 83 non-profit rescue and shelter organizations with the campaign, as reported by Business Insider. Additionally, they invite people to participate in the campaign. Individuals can visit their web page, or any of the 66 Pet Food Express stores between April 1 and 28.
They recommend three important ways to help the thousands of California kittens looking for new homes. People can adopt a kitten from a local rescue or shelter, adopt a kitten, or donate to local rescues and shelters.
In addition, Megan Kniepkamp, Community Manager of Pet Food Express, shared her thoughts about the campaign. She said, “Kitten season puts a serious strain on California’s animal rescue network from April through November.” Continuing, she added, “The single biggest way to help is through fostering. Every pet in a foster home means two lives are saved: the pet in the foster home and the pet that takes their place in the shelter.”
Additionally, the retail store’s Kitten Season campaign raised and donated more than $217,430 worth of products to local rescues and shelters in 2023. They also offer complimentary resources and practical advice that “How to Foster” for kitten fosters through their blog, “The Pet Owner’s Handbook. ”
Furthermore, Kitten Season represents just one of several impactful community programs that Pet Food Express runs annually. Their other campaigns include Fill the Food Bank, Pet Fair, and Holiday Shopping Spree. By 2023, through these initiatives, the company provided more than $1.3 million in financial assistance and facilitated the adoption of many pets, from tiny kittens to beloved senior dogs.
