Of course we kittens are adorable all the time. And we show you how much we care in many ways — our happy purrs and paws, rubbing against you, slow blinking, sleeping with you at night. But we have some ways to show you our love that are so beautiful and irresistible. (And we know this too.)
Here are the best ways we show you our love:
- We are shouting at you.
This is different from the chatter we throw at the birdies out the window. It’s a cute, kittenish purr that we give to our favorite people, and not many cats make it. If yours is, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. - We greet you with a question mark.
When cats are happy, we wag our tails. But when we’re really, really happy to see someone, we curl our tail to look like a furry question mark. My tail is almost always in this position, and if you’ve seen me wagging on my leash at a cat show or pet shop, you may have seen it. - We do air headbutts.
This one is pretty rare, but it’s one that I do. When you raise your hand above your cat’s head, if they have this predilection, they will raise their hind legs to meet your hand. Like purring, if your cat does this, you’re one of the lucky ones. - We roll over to expose our bellies…then reach out and hold your hand.
Many cats show their belly to show their love and trust. And if you are a smart person, you know better than to handle! At least for most cats. There are rare people (like me), who enjoy belly rubs. But what’s more special, and cuter, is when we reach out and hold your hand with our foot when we’re in that position. - gift giving
If your cat brings you their little catnip toys or other small gifts, you are special in their eyes. It’s a sweet and caring gesture, and shows that they care about you. Although I have to say, if the gift is alive, or once was, you may not find it as cute. But still love. - Dancing Paws.
Many cats knead when they are happy, especially when they are getting comfortable on soft surfaces like blankets and beds. But when they do it while standing, it’s like dancing, it’s so cute. I’m pretty famous here. I’ll even have dancing paws on hard concrete!
Does your cat do some of the above? Let me know in the comments!
