Santa Paws in Action: How You Can Help Rescues in Need
You have to congratulate our local pet rescue organizations who work tirelessly to take in abandoned, lost, and abused pets. If you think it’s hard work, you’re right – especially when funding is low and these animals need vital health services. That’s why we want to share this success story as an example of how the Hill Country Animal League’s Santa Paws fundraiser is making a difference.
A rescue organization that takes in cats and kittens needs to help with a hoarding situation involving nearly 60 cats. When the rescue brought one of the cats in for sterilization, our wellness veterinarian saw how bad her teeth were. We do not typically provide dental services, but occasionally we have limited funds available for animals in great need. The rescue struggles to pay for this level of treatment.
Thanks to our generous donors, HCAL was able to make a significant contribution to ensure the cat got the dental work it needed. The rescue is very grateful – and the cat is doing very well.
That’s what your donation does. Our costs of doing business continue to rise, from salaries and the price of supplies to simply turning on the lights. Every extra penny goes into keeping our prices as low and affordable as possible. Considering how little money most rescues have, this is a lot for them.
Stopping the continued growth of unwanted dogs and cats is the most important thing we do in this regard. By providing low-cost spay and neuter services to rescue groups and low-income families, we can help ensure that more animals can stay in their homes or be transferred to new loving homes.
Even the smallest donation helps, so please check out our Santa Paws page – and accept our sincere thanks for whatever you can do!
