Santa Paws in Action: How You Can Help Pet Owners in Need
Imagine dreaming of becoming a pet owner, but never being able to realize that dream simply because you can’t afford to give it basic veterinary care. The hard truth is that many people throughout South-Central Texas would make wonderful “place parents” to dogs and cats in need of a forever home – if only they could afford the essentials. such as vaccinations and spay or neuter surgery. That’s why we’re so committed to our mission and our Santa Paws Fundraiser, which runs through the end of the year.
Here is a true story that illustrates how important and beneficial your donation is.
Two young sisters fresh out of high school start working at a local Hill Country restaurant located in an area where feral cats are rampant. As long-time animal lovers who often volunteered at their local animal rescue, when they came across a mother and her four kittens, they knew they had to do something to help. While the girls wanted to just take the kittens and give them a home, they knew they couldn’t leave the mother cat to have more babies. That means spay/neuter surgeries – and the girls know they can’t afford the full price for such surgeries on their part-time restaurant wages. What did the sisters do?
At the Hill Country Animal League, we know stories like theirs. That’s why we’re so excited about our fundraising programs. With the help of our donors, we were able to help these girls and the kittens they found by providing spay/neuter surgeries, as well as some equally important vaccinations, all at our low-income specials with a discounted rate. Now the two sisters are happy pet owners of three of the baby kittens, while one has found its way to another loving home.
Every dollar we raise throughout the year makes a difference. Help us reach our year-end fundraising goal of $15,000 by December 31st, 2023. We understand that’s a big goal and we appreciate every penny we raise, but we couldn’t do it without the your support. Consider making a tax-deductible donation today, and help provide low-income families with access to affordable vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and other veterinary wellness services.
