PetMed Express, Inc, shared that its customers now have direct access to pet insurance plans and optional preventive care coverage for an additional cost through its partnership with Pumpkin Insurance Services Inc .1
A 2023 MarketWatch survey2 found 33% of pet owners without insurance report that they avoid taking their pet to the vet because they can’t afford an expensive bill compared to only 22% of pet insurance holders . Additionally, approximately 16% of pet parents report losing a pet because they cannot afford veterinary care.

With Pumpkin’s comprehensive and affordable pet insurance plans, PetMeds customers can access reliable accident and illness coverage just by going to the PetMeds website. The integration allows existing PetMeds customers to have their pet’s history, vet information, and other important information instantly connected to their insurance research and quote.
Customers can receive reimbursement for 90% of all eligible veterinary bills when they enroll in a Pumpkin Pet Insurance plan.1 Pet parents can also include Preventive Essentials, Pumpkin’s health package developed with veterinarians. This optional benefit is not insurance, but it can be added to their Pumpkin insurance plan to receive reimbursements for early diagnostics and preventive care for their dogs and cats. Pumpkin Pet Insurance and Preventive Essentials wellness package plans can be used at any veterinarian in the US or Canada.
