A Nottingham woman is making people’s day with her unique dog grooming business. Unlike other salons, Teddy’s Trims Dog Grooming on Nuthall Road, Nottingham goes above and beyond for its furry clients.
Opening in November 2022, owner Eley Thomas says the salon is “really busy” thanks to her more unusual services. These include spa treatments, such as a mud bath or milk bath, as well as traditional grooming services, such as a haircut or nail clip.
However, one of the most popular services they offer is their dog birthday packages. Starting from £40 and depending on the breed, a dog can have a spa treatment before also enjoying a birthday photoshoot and leaving with a party bag, hat and balloons.
You can even invite your pet’s furry friends to a full party, where they “get everything a kid would get, party bags, cake and balloons.” Eley said: “All races can come and we’ve done over 50 of them which are really popular.”

She added that the service is a “really cute” way to celebrate your dog’s birthday. Throughout the year, she also does special events and photoshoots for all kinds of occasions, such as Christmas, Halloween and Valentine’s Day.
Eley added that in December 2023 they did a Santa Paws event, where the dogs met Santa, took a picture and left with a gift. Through this he raised around £500 for two local dog charities.
It is also important to Eley that all dogs are welcome in her salon and this includes XL Bullys. He said: “I’m fully insured to cover them too, so we accept them.
“They can still come in and have that experience.” Because the salon offers all services individually, owners don’t have to worry about their dogs feeling nervous or not liking other dogs.
When asked about her favorite part of the business, the 23-year-old replied: “My favorite part would just be meeting the dogs and having that bond. The dogs are incredible and they are so much fun to be around, especially when we makes packages like a birthday party.”
He added: “We also sell natural dogs treats, grooming supplies and the barking bakery range.” In the past, they’ve also made Easter baskets for dogs, and it’s something Eley hopes to do again this year.
