Owner and certified dog groomer, Eva George, has a new, more spacious home for Dapper Dogz Grooming and Gifts at 1115 E. Sixth St.
Offering full-service dog grooming by appointment, George makes it a priority to spend time with dogs who may be new to the grooming process. There is a 10×10 ft. indoor kennel, he provides a safe place for his client’s dogs in his care.
Dapper Dogz will celebrate their one-year anniversary in April. It has been a successful year and George is eager to welcome the dogs and their families to his new location.
The new location has a special dog washing room with a floor drain, which allows George to accommodate older dogs and dogs with ailments that have difficulty getting into a tub or climbing onto a grooming table.
There is a private dog park in the backyard. Equipped with a seven-foot-tall privacy fence, the park will be a place where customers can bring their dog, pay for the day and watch them play. He said the area will be monitored with security cameras to give dog owners the peace of mind that they need to leave their dogs off leash in a safe place.
“It’s going to be like a pup club,” George said. “People will be able to take their dogs to a safe place and not have to fear aggression from other animals.”
George grew up on a farm in Kansas, loving animals. After establishing a working relationship with Hartwind Kennels in Big Springs several years ago, she realized she had a special place in her heart for dogs, especially Doodle breeds.
“I’ve been able to develop relationships with so many wonderful dogs and their families,” George said. “I feel like what sets me apart is that I’m willing to work with large dogs, those that are considered high anxiety and dogs that have challenging behaviors.”
Every Saturday, George makes time for another aspect of his business, Quirky.E.customs. She designs custom images and screen prints t-shirts, mugs, tote bags and other items. Her shop’s retail floor features a wide variety of unique pet-related products.
Find Dapper Dogz Grooming and Gifts on Facebook for before and after photos of his work, contests and specials. Call 308-252-8521 for more information or to schedule a repair appointment.
A single mother of two sons, George wanted to grow her business to leave a legacy for her children. While she appreciates the flexibility that being an owner/operator provides, she says the most rewarding part is the connection she makes with the dogs she marries.
George creates an emotional connection with the dogs and works with local organizations to properly organize shelter and rescue dogs so they can find permanent homes.
“These are the dogs I get to rescue,” she said. “That’s what keeps me smiling and coming back to work every day.”
She stocks novelty items including doggie toothbrushes, bikinis, helmets and glasses, as well as dog and human hat and t-shirt sets, and pet sympathy cards too.
Roll-off for rent
Rooster Roll-offs is a new business in North Platte that offers roll-off dumpster rentals focused on commercial/residential remodeling, renovations and other small construction projects.
Peyton Zeller and wife Kortney started their family-owned business in January and business has been doing well. Zeller pointed out that to his knowledge they are the only locally owned and operated roll-off rental service in the area.
“One good thing about us is that we don’t charge a large upfront deposit to reserve a dumpster,” Zeller said. Dumpster reservations are based on a seven-day contract. A nominal daily fee is assessed if a project lasts. Long-term contracts are also available.
Offering containers in four sizes, Zeller says they can be used for a variety of projects from mid-sized construction to large-scale remodeling. They are available in capacities of 11, 15, 20 and 25 yards of material.
A North Platte High graduate, Zeller recently moved back to the area to be closer to family. After working in construction and oilfields, he was ready to apply his skills and experience in business.
“I asked people in the community about what kind of businesses and services are needed here,” he said.
“People have expressed frustration with long wait times or not being called back when looking to rent dumpsters for their cleaning and construction projects.”
Knowing the construction industry, Zeller recognized the need and launched Rooster Roll-offs.
Rooster Flats Farms, owned by his parents, Nathan and Amanda Zeller, inspired the unique business name. He incorporated the rooster design into his own logo because he liked the way it looked and was easily recognizable.
Visit roosterrolloffs.com for pricing and reservations. Zeller can be contacted directly at 308-660-5424.
Lou’s Coffee serves specialty drinks
Standing on the corner of west Front St. and north Buffalo Bill Ave., a small brown building with a metal roof is Lou’s Coffee, a drive-thru coffee shop owned and operated by Lou Anderson.
With plenty of space for vehicles entering and exiting the location, the store is located at the front of The Barn convenience store’s spacious parking lot.
Anderson opened his store in January and says business has been good. He said he has always had a passion for coffee and spent more than five years working at other local coffee places. Anderson’s father, Mike Schroer, owns The Barn and together they made his dream a reality.
Open from 7 am-3 pm Monday through Saturday, Anderson makes favorite drinks, whether hot, cold, iced or blended. He says his personal favorite is a white mocha coffee with toasted marshmallows.
The energy drinks on the menu have been popular with customers. Made with Red Bull Remix or Lotus Energy, a plant-based energy concentrate, these drinks pack a caffeinated punch when a morning or mid-afternoon pick-me-up is in order.
“I enjoyed it. I just want to make drinks for people,” Anderson said.
He added that he also enjoyed the process of opening the business and what he learned about being an owner/operator.
“This whole experience and everything I’m learning has been invaluable,” Anderson said. “There’s a lot more to it than just sipping coffee.”
Although she’s only been open a few weeks, Anderson said she already has regular customers who she looks forward to seeing in the shop every day.
Lou’s Coffee is at 2500 W. Front St., Suite 1. Find them on Facebook for specials and contests.
Clear focus
said Dr. Aaron and Jobeth Halling are excited about the grand opening of Clear Focus Eyecare at their new location, 410 E. Francis St., Suite 3.
The ribbon was cut on February 29.
Since purchasing the practice from Dr. John Gutschenritter in 2020, Hallings has expanded its service lines and providers. The number of patients they served doubled, according to Dr. Aaron.
“The best thing about our relocation is the extra space,” he said. “The additional exam rooms will allow us to better meet our patient’s eye care needs.”
The Francis St. location also includes the spacious showroom displaying hundreds of available frame styles. The bright and well-lit area allows patients to choose their eyewear in a comfortable environment.
Thanks to Dr. Aaron is the look and design of the center that comes together through the vision and dedication of Dr. Jobeth.
Clear Focus Eyecare provides a full range of comprehensive eye care services. The center offers eye exams for adults and children, eye disease care, dry eye treatment, corrective lenses and referrals for refractive surgery.
Regular office hours are 8 am-4 pm Monday through Thursday and 9 am-2 pm on Fridays. To schedule an appointment, call (308) 534-7100.
Body Art
At 9 Line Body Art Studio, 502 Rodeo Road, new owner and manager Sabrina Miranda brings good vibes and positive energy. With nine licensed technicians on staff, Miranda said they are ready to meet customer needs including tattooing, body piercing and professional nail services.
“Our grand opening celebrated the New Year and gave a fresh start,” Miranda said. “I want our customers to feel like they don’t have to go to six different places to get their services.”
Miranda and her team wanted to introduce the community to the rebranded studio. The services have been changed and have nothing to do with the tattoo shop that used to be at this location.
The idea for the studio’s unique name came from the nine-line tattoo needle, a popular tool among tattoo artists. Miranda said she thought the name would be easy to remember and make a visual impact, along with their logo.
Making the studio family friendly is a priority. He wants to help erase the image of dirty stores that some may have. Bright orange paint on the walls of the waiting room, spacious areas where artists and technicians serve their clients and clean floors create an inviting atmosphere.
Miranda says the best part of her new business is meeting people and hearing their stories. Sharing emotional moments with her clients is a privilege. “Getting a tattoo is more healing than people think,” says Miranda.
The nail room is bright and tidy. Customers have space to relax while getting their nails done.
A massage chair is available and there are plans to add facials to the services. Eventually, Miranda plans to install video game systems in the waiting room to entertain children while they wait for parents to have services performed.
9 Line Body Art Studio is open daily. Each technician personally books their own appointments and will work with clients to conveniently schedule. Check out the studio’s Facebook page for photos of their work and special deals.
