Mumbai: Vetic Pet Clinic in Thane West has been forced to close following public outrage over a video that went viral online, showing staff attacking a pet dog at their grooming centre. The incident drew condemnation from animal lovers and activists, prompting authorities to take action. Two individuals involved in animal cruelty and recording the incident were subsequently arrested.
Videos of the arrests made by the Thane police have surfaced online, although the names of the arrested individuals have not been disclosed. The pet clinic has also been ordered to stop operations.
The incident took place earlier this month when the pet’s owner left the dog at the Thane-based clinic while they were celebrating their wedding. They availed boarding services at the facility, unaware of the ill treatment that would ensue.
According to a report by The Free Press Journal, the pet owner only learned of the incident after the video surfaced, revealing the extent of the cruelty inflicted on their beloved dog. Immediate action was taken, and the dog has been shifted to PetAshram, a pet boarding service in Thane, where it is reportedly recovering.
