For those looking for snuggles and love this Valentine’s Day, Pima Animal Care Center is hosting a special event on Feb. 14 featuring free adoptions on all pets. For that day, PACC will offer extended hours at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, from 1:30 to 8 p.m.
PACC leadership recognizes that many families have specific needs or preferences for a pet. In an effort to help make those matches, PACC counselors will have lists prepared that highlight pets that meet various criteria, including dogs that fall under certain weight limit, pets living with cats, dogs, and children, and dogs preferred. a couch potato lifestyle.
“It’s almost like doggy speed dating,” said Katie Hutchinson, PACC’s results manager. “We hope that offering a fun, late-night event and providing an opportunity for some of our overlooked dogs to shine will result in more pets finding homes this Valentine’s Day. ”
Are you looking for puppy love instead? PACC’s mobile adoption unit, the PACCmobile, will be stationed in front of the shelter, filled with multiple litters of adoptable puppies.
PACC is currently at critical capacity and has over 480 dogs and 100 cats available for adoption. All pets, including puppies and kittens, are free to adopt at Wednesday’s event. A $20 licensing fee may apply for adult dogs. All pets adopted from PACC are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Normal PACC hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 7 pm, on Wednesday from 1:30 – 7 pm, and on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm Adult dogs require a $20 licensing fee. To learn more about PACC’s available pets and services, please go to www.pima.gov/animalcare.
