Today we are looking at perhaps, one of the brightest flies we have ever seen! The Genghis Blooby, tied by Steve Cullen. It’s bright, it’s big and it’s designed to draw the attention of fish from miles away! Steve first witnessed this fly being used in an International match at Bewl. It is used by a rival team and it gives some great results.
It’s a pretty straight forward fly to tie, usually on a size 6 hook, with light colored thread. Two complimentary fritz colors and a good sized booby eye, preferably each eye circled with a lighter. Finished with a beautiful resin painting, in the color of your choice. For this example, it’s a nice bright yellow. Get some of these tied up in bright, shiny colors, ready for your next session!
All the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Center as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or replacements, we’d be happy to help.
