Today we take a look at The Black and Red Buzzer, tied by Steve Cullen. It may just be a Buzzer, but Chronomids are the staple food of all stillwater Trout and as Steve explained it’s a simple, effective fly that seems to fish better when tied on a straight hook. Common Buzzer flies are usually tied on a grub or buzzer style hook with a consistent curve. Steve tends to use this fly early in the season, when bloodworms are being targeted by hungry Trout.
This buzzer is effective, easy to put together and requires only a handful of materials! Get some of these tied up, ready to go for the start of the Season!
All the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Center as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or replacements, we’d be happy to help.
