Today we look at the Cul De Corrib Midge, tied by Steve Cullen. According to Steve, this is a real gem of a fly, as it is often used for the most cunning wild Brown Trout. However, it is just as effective if you are targeting Rainbow Trout.
This fly is a variant of the popular river fly called the Cul De Canon, created by Gwilym Hughes. The Cul De Corrib Midge is slightly heavier than the Cul De Canon as it provides a better target for larger fish, looking for a big meal. Tie some of these on Size 10, 12 or 14 hooks and get out and try it!
All the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Center as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or replacements, we’d be happy to help.
