Got a crazy fishing buddy without a boat? This boat-in-a-backpack may be the answer
The GoBoat Fish fits into a backpack, so the fishing platform can go anywhere you take it. It also has multiple attachment points for accessories including rod and cup holders, multifiunction fish plotters, a spare paddle, seat and more.
In a dramatic twist of irony, the new compact fishing watercraft comes days after the launch of the world’s largest sportsfisher and Kawasaki’s first dedicated fishing jet ski.
“GoBoat is pleased to introduce the Fish, an innovative personal watercraft designed to deliver unmatched performance, versatility, and excitement on the water,” the company said in a media release announcing the new model.
“Whether you’re looking to access new territory for fishing and hunting, or simply looking for a new level of water recreation, Fish will help you get there.”

One of the Fish’s big advantages, says GoBoat, is its ability to access shallow water, giving access to “more fruitful fishing holes”.
In a slightly more controversial application, GoBoat says the Fish will let duck hunters hit the water without needing a dog to retrieve fallen ducks, while hunters can wade across lakes instead of go around them, and even haul back their produce in the water.
GoBoat says other big advantages of the Fish include the stand-up stability of the design, the convenience of raising it from the boot of a car or the bed of a trade ute, and the ability to launch from anywhere have access to water. Oh yes, it’s also more affordable than a boat, meaning while you may own the SS Minnowyou can use the savings to spend big on advanced fish-spotting electronics.

No prices have yet been announced for the GoBoat Fish, but the current range tops out at less than $US2500 ($A3840) for the inflatable ring, a 35lb tolling motor, inflatable seat, repair kit, removable fin and dual-chamber air bomb. Importantly, the package includes a 30Ah deep-cycle lithium-ion battery and charger.
According to GoBoat, it will deliver to Australia. However, shipping is more than half the cost of the GoBoat again.
