EGOT winner John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have teamed up to launch Kismet, a pet lifestyle brand offering premium dog food, merchandise and content for dog-loving families. This is the power couple’s first joint business venture.
Before the couple married in 2013 and had four children, the couple adopted a bulldog.
“We’re big pet parents,” Teigen said. “We’ve been together for a long time now, since we first met.”
Initially launching online, Kismet will feature $18 bags of doggie treats and dry food options with a Chicken & Barley recipe or a Salmon & Brown Rice recipe for up to $90 for a 19-pound bag.
In addition to the treats, Kismet also offers four different dog treats made with the same high-quality ingredients as the treats.
“I think my dogs have eaten better than me at so many different points in my life,” Teigen said. “Honestly, when I hear chicken and barley with sweet potato nuggets, I drool.”
“We want to find the right balance of giving them all the nutrition and quality they want,” Legend said. “But without all the hassle and expense of fresh.”
The couple said they had been considering a pet food business for about half a decade. It became a family affair as their four dogs—Penny, Petey, Pearl, and Pebbles—served as taste buds.
