John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have teamed up to launch Kismet, a pet lifestyle brand offering premium dog food, merchandise and content for dog-loving families. This is the power couple’s first joint business venture.
“Dogs have always been a big part of our lives. We were pet parents before we welcomed our children into the world, and we know what it’s like to have a special bond with a dog. Simply put, Kismet ,” said Teigen and Legend, who own four furry friends (Penny, Pearl, Pebbles, and Petey).
They added, “Dogs are silly, playful and messy – and we wanted a brand that represented all of that. Beyond offering great quality food to take care of your dog, here Kismet to provide thoughtfully designed lifestyle items and engaging content for pets and their people.”
Teigen and Legend listed Dr. Kwane Stewart as Kismet’s chief veterinary officer. Stewart was named the 2023 CNN Hero of the Year and founder of Project Street Vet.
Mathé Young Mosny, Kismet’s chief executive officer, said, “It has been a pleasure working with Chrissy and John to establish Kismet. Their passion for dogs and dedication to the quality of our product portfolio is exceptional. Additionally, they true community builders. As a brand, we want to bring together people with a shared love of dogs who are ready for something new in this category. We’re excited for people to join us.
Kismet’s initial launch includes two dry-food products and two flavors of treats for pets of all ages. According to the press materials, the dry food and treats are made with real animal proteins, superfoods rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals, and pre and probiotics for digestion. The company partners with board-certified veterinary nutritionists and expert formulators to develop high-quality recipes.
Kismet’s dry food offerings include Chicken & Barley Recipe With Nutritious Freeze-Dried Nugs and Salmon & Brown Rice Recipe With Nutritious Freeze-Dried Nugs. Both flavors are available in 9-pound bags for $44.99 and 19-pound bags for $79.99.
Additionally, treats include Slow Cooked Beef Sticks and Slow Cooked Salmon Sticks. Both products are alternatively available as squares. All treats cost $17.99 for a 14 oz bag.
The brand’s merch includes a T-shirt, crewneck sweatshirt, hoodie, sweatpants, and bandana — which people and/or their pups can wear.
All Kismet items are available for purchase now. Every order supports Kismet Cares, the brand’s philanthropic initiative, and its beneficiaries Project Street Vet and Paws for Life.
According to Kismet’s official website, Project Street Vet “is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit public charity that provides free veterinary care, treatment, and support to the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness and/or housing vulnerability.
Paws for Life “is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit public organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs from high-kill shelters.”
