Today we’re looking at a cool wild Brown Trout pattern called the Half Hog, tied by Steve Cullen. This is a tricky little fly to tie, but well worth the time and effort, especially if you plan to fish any rivers or reservoirs. The half-pig will ideally fish alone, but it can fish in a team if necessary. This works especially well when there is a chopper in the water, because it sits there and you can see it from a distance. If you like a challenge, try this fly and you won’t be disappointed!
All the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Center as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or replacements, we’d be happy to help.
