The newly launched collection of Hay dog accessories puts a colorful spin on canine accoutrements, created by Mette Hay in collaboration with Barbara Maj Husted Werner, a friend and owner of the Danish boutique Holly Golightly.
Hay and Werner traditionally walk their dogs together around Copenhagen, and it was during one of these walks that they came up with the idea for the collection, with the ambition of creating a fun series of everyday thing and ‘invite dog owners into the Hay universe’.
Hay dog accessories: leading the way
Available from February 15, 2024, Hay dog accessories include soft beds in the color-block motif typical of the Danish design brand, available in three sizes and in a chromatic palette consisting of bold tones, such as purple, blue and red, alongside contrasting neutrals, such as white and beige.
‘It’s always interesting to dive into a market where we feel we have something new to offer, and we felt Hay could bring color to the game,’ said Mette Hay. ‘Products for pets are often very neutral and [restricted to] earth tone, but I liked the idea of [them bringing] a touch of color, instead [being] purely utilitarian.’
In the range there is also a collar, a flat leash and a braided leash, as well as a toy rope, all available in different colors and made from recycled polyester. Complete the collection with a duo of stoneware bowls and cotton scarves, also defined by the same attitude to color.
‘It’s important that the colors work for all types of dogs – male and female, different breeds, different sizes – to fit any dog’s character,’ adds Werner. ‘Dog accessories are something you use every day. Dogs have all kinds of “personal items”, just like any other member of the family, so why shouldn’t they look good?’
Hay dog accessories are available from February 15, 2024, prices start at €14 / £13 GBP / DKK99
