LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Teddy is getting back to his playful self.
While the 1-year-old pup hasn’t walked in a long time and is “definitely tired,” Teddy is slowly recovering from an ordeal that his owner Kelly Fowler told Patch Tuesday that he “somehow consumed a high level” of marijuana after returning. from visiting PetSmart for repairs.

Cindy Kelly, director of communications for the Bucks County SPCA, said the agency has contacted PetSmart and is conducting an investigation into the incident.
PetSmart did not return calls seeking comment from its Fairless Hills location near the Oxford Valley Mall.
Fowler said she had taken Teddy to that PetSmart “many times before” for grooming.
She dropped Teddy off at 9 am Saturday and picked him up at 12:45 pm
But Teddy wasn’t wagging his tail like he used to and seemed “a little off” but Fowler thought he was tired and thirsty.
As Fowler and her daughter Brooklyn drove home, she said Teddy couldn’t keep his eyes open.
“I was worried but decided we should get him some water,” said the Trevose woman. “When we got home, we took him down to drink and he lay down. I called PetSmart to see what they did to my dog and they said they don’t give me medicine and he’s happy when he’s there.”
He then took Teddy to Blue Pearl Hospital in Levittown where some urine and blood tests determined that while in the groomer’s care he had consumed high levels of THC (marijuana).
Fowler said he was told that when a dog ingests it, it shows symptoms within 90 minutes, that he was with them for about four hours.
Fowler said she filed a police report and called PetSmart’s corporate office.
“When I called that location, they laughed at me like I was joking,” Fowler said. “After the doctor showed proof, they paid the $500 vet bill. I would also like the money back for the haircut and what they did to my dog is animal abuse.”
