February 27, 2024 by: Summer SambacommentThis week, I visited assisted living homes with residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s. It’s always a little adventure. You never know who will remember you and who won’t. If you haven’t seen someone, you don’t always know what stage they are in, or if they have anything else going on besides dementia. My man is always happy for the regulars because he knows what to expect. We saw quite a few regulars in the first house. The nonverbal woman who held me with heavy hands spent hours gently caressing me and smiling. I also saw the…

February 26, 2024 by: Summer SambacommentTo this day, how a cat purrs is a mystery, even to scientists. But recently, it looks like a team of researchers may have cracked the purring code! And there’s one fact that might give you pause. Before I explain how they know this, I’ll tell you a surprising fact.A cat’s purr is probably unintentional! That’s right, a cat’s purring is an automatic response and apparently cannot be done voluntarily. People can fake a smile, but a cat can’t fake or force a purr. It will happen, or it won’t.How Research MeetsAn international team, led by…

I sure have a lot of crazy outtakes to choose from for funny bloopers this week!I’m not sure I can kiss that face. Before he decided to use my checkerboard sofa for my blog post about kneading, we tried a few different things for the pictures. One is this purple velvet blanket. But he wasn’t happy with the quality of my happy feet, so we changed it.Things went well when we started using the sofa…except for this unfortunate shaking that made my ears ring. These ears aren’t creepy…they’re in full-blown airplane mode! I think the construction workers next door were especially noisy…

My person rejects many different types of products for review. One of them was electronic cat toys because he knew I wouldn’t be able to appeal. So when a TikTok brand wanted to send her a remote control cat toy car, she said no. But they still insisted on sending one to us. They probably regret it now! Here’s what it looks like.It didn’t take long to prepare it. My person just needs to charge, and attach the feather holder. It also comes with a remote control so my man can go where he wants. Or at least that was the intention. So…

Can you believe it’s only been a few days since the last cat show and it’s time for another one! This time, closer to home. It’s in Glendale, so it’s a very short drive, and no suitcases this time. But I still have to choose what to wear. The weather will be mild and the cat show hall is heating up, so I will dress lighter. And so many people liked my tricks so we’ll focus more on that. My man says my bell ringing needs a little improvement, so we’re going to practice a little ahead of time. This time I…

February 21, 2024 by: Summer SambacommentRemember my pro modeling gig from a few weeks ago? I just got the item with the pictures! It’s part of Ellen DeGeneres’ Paws Up Club subscription box for cats and the people who love them. I thought the pictures were just for social media and their website, but they are in the Paws Up Cats mini-magazine included in the February box.Does this look familiar? My man then so excited to open the little magazine and see my pictures! The photographer used my feet in many pictures. So I guess this technically makes me the cat version…

Call it what you will — kneading, biscuit making, smurgling, or my human favorite, happy paws — it’s an activity familiar to almost everyone who has cats. But have you ever wondered why cats do this? Most people assume that this rhythmic stretching and kneading of paws comes from the kitten’s memories of nursing. But while no scientific study has been done on this, the truth seems to be a bit more complicated.Another way to mark the perfumeCats have sweat glands on their paw pads, but did you know they also have glands between their toes? These glands secrete a scent…

Instead of staying in a hotel for our trip to Victorville, my man and I did something different, and better! His girlfriend had a getaway house in the desert about halfway between our home and Victorville, so we stayed there! It’s awesome! I had a whole house to explore instead of a small hotel room. Her boyfriend had gotten some groceries, but they really weren’t using the kitchen much for this trip. They didn’t use this bathtub either. (There’s a shower in the other bathroom.) But it’s huge! After a long day at the cat show, I got to zoom around the house…

I had a great time in Victorville! I wasn’t sure what to expect because this was the first time I was an official meet and greet cat for this organization (TICA). We brought my smaller, older enclosure because my Ambassador enclosure was exclusive to the other organization (CFA). My man and I knew the people who put on the show, though, and they saw me doing my thing for the CFA. So of course they brought me closer to the entrance so people could see me as soon as they entered.Victorville was a bit chilly, as we thought, especially on…

Rarely do my weekly outtakes have such a clear theme! There wasn’t even a question about which pictures to use — the ones with my tongue out were the best. Here’s my take on peach kitty’s thoughts on my Valentine’s outfit.I probably stuck my tongue out in my man’s direction because he put on my cat show wardrobe and no accessories included! Luckily he remembered to pack some before we left.My man had to take a picture of me rubbing his hand for a blog post. The only problem is, he only put hand cream on his hands so they don’t…
