The usual suspects of the Canada goose, Coot, Moorhen, Snipe, Shoveller, Teal, Mallard, Little Grebe and Wigeon are present today. I was happy to see 6 Tufted ducks and 4 Pintails among other species of ducks. Tufted Duck paint tail Male Hen Harrier Brian reported on the 26thth November is still there and has been bombed several times. It’s interesting that one of my photos looks like it’s ringed! He spent most of the time on the northern side just hunting along the track. Although I have seen several ringtails, this is the third time I have seen a male.…
Richard and I went to do the WebS count for Castlemartin Corse this morning. I don’t think I’ve ever seen corse as dry as it is today! Where I stand usually represents wet feet! This is where ducks usually hide in open water! The resulting count for WeBS was a bit sparse with a grand total of 10 Snipe, 1 Water Rail (single call from the reeds) and 2 Gray Heron!
