AKIPRESS.COM – After a series of recent earthquakes in Kyrgyzstan, fishermen in the Chui region are reporting heavy fish bites in reservoirs.
According to Evgeny Lysakov, fish have been actively biting for several days in a row in the Karatuma reservoir (Panfilov district), as if intending to jump from the hole onto the ice. “Roach, bream, crucian carp, rudd, perch, and pike are caught. Bloodworms are very effective for catching whitefish, but the bigger fish of Russian origin, the fish really love bloodworms. Perch and pike bites live bait – small. fish,” said angler Lysakov.
Biologist Irina Stezhko believes that the bite of fish is strongly influenced by natural factors. “Observations show that fish, a few hours before an earthquake, begin to behave restlessly, actively swim, and jump on the surface of the water. It is likely that after the earthquake, the water layers mix, which enriches in the water of oxygen, and all fish in the reservoir begin to move and actively eat,” said biologist Irina Stezhko.
A strong magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck China on January 23 at 00:09, about 42 km from Xinjiang. Major cities in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan felt the tremors, leading many high-rise residents to flee their apartments in search of safer ground. Many minor aftershocks have been reported since then.
