Palm Beach Post pet of the week: Adopt a cat or dog Palm Beach County
Looking for a best friend? Meet Lil Kiki, learn more about this week’s cat and dog — animals available for adoption in Palm Beach County.
Welcome to The Palm Beach Post’s Pet of the Week — a series where we highlight animals up for adoption in Palm Beach County in hopes of finding them a forever home and putting a smile on your face.
This week’s pets are Lil Kiki and Saki. These beautiful ladies are currently the longest-serving residents at Palm Beach Animal Care and Control: Both have been in the care of ACC staff since November 2023.
Now, they are looking for a loving family.
Here’s what to know about our pets of the week, including what Animal Care and Control staff have to say about Lil Kiki and Saki’s personalities:
Dog available for adoption: Lil Kiki
- Age: Just over 1 year old
- Weight: 37 pounds
- Gender: Female, spayed
- Animal ID: A2158723
About him: This enthusiastic pup definitely has star power! Wherever she goes, Lil Kiki captures everyone’s attention and their hearts. He gets along well with other dogs and has lots of puppy energy so he will need a gentle and patient hand to guide him. If you are looking for a best friend for life, Lil Kiki is perfect for you!
Additional information: Lil Kiki plays well with other dogs and thrives best in a home with children 15 years of age or older. See more photos of Lil Kiki on her online profile with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.
Cats available for adoption: Saki
Here’s what to know about Saki, a black and white cat:
- Age: 3 years old
- Weight: 8 pounds
- Gender: Female, spayed
- Animal ID: A2054333
About him: Saki’s previous owner gave her up after not touching her for two years and calling her “unsightly,” but Animal Care and Control staff strongly disagree. He was scared when the Animal Control Officers collected him, but he was harmless and made himself at home in the clinic without any issues. Saki is looking for a patient, understanding and caring adopter who can give her lots of love and show her that she can be an amazing friend and companion.
Additional information: See more photos of Saki on her online profile with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.
How to adopt a cat or dog in Palm Beach County
You can start the adoption process in person or online.
To get started in person, visit animal control during normal business hours at 7100 Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach to fill out an application and meet the pets there.
To start the process online:
- Use Lil Kiki or Saki’s animal ID number to look them up in animal control’s online database.
- Click on the “Ready to Adopt? Click Here” link to the right of the pet’s photo.
- Fill out a two-page downloadable adoption application and email it to animal control at [email protected].
- Once animal control has reviewed your application, a team member will contact you to confirm that you have been approved to adopt. Submitting an online application does not guarantee availability of a pet.
Adoption fees: During February, all adoption fees are $14. Adoption fees are typically $60 for adult dogs, $75 for puppies, and $50 for cats and kittens. Palm Beach County residents age 55 and older are offered a discounted adoption fee.
Note: All animals taken from animal control are spayed if female or neutered if male. They will be up-to-date on vaccinations, protected against fleas and ticks and microchipped.
About raising: If you’re not ready for a long-term commitment, you may want to consider becoming a foster. This is a great way to get a feel for being a pet parent and it allows you and your new prospective pet to get to know each other. Click here for more information about nursing.
