The Pet Food Committee Meeting will take place on Thursday August 8, 2024 from 1:15 to 3:15 PM Central Time. The agenda for this session includes a discussion on the voluntary claim of maximum bronze. This item was previously voted against by AAFCO, however it was discussed again due to a Hill veterinarian’s role on the subject being withdrawn. The veterinarian who authored this paper was part of the AAFCO working group, which could influence the vote based on bad science. Considering the arguments that Hill’s vets have put forward against it in previous meetings, this particular discussion should be ‘interesting’.
The Pet Food Committee Meeting will also discuss implementing pet food label updates.
The Substance Definitions Committee Meeting will take place on Wednesday August 7, 2024 from 1:15 – 3:45 PM Central Time. The agenda for this session includes a discussion of the soon to be finalized agreement between AAFCO and FDA regarding pet food/animal feed ingredients. We look forward to learning more from this discussion about what the future holds for pet food ingredients; who will determine the new ingredients, AAFCO, FDA, or both?
