The heartbreak of knowing that so many dogs endure abuse and are robbed of the happiness they deserve. This story centers around Gordough – an incredible dog who suffered so much when his owners unceremoniously abandoned him, leaving him tied to a park bench. When the rescue team from the Austin Humane Society in Texas discovered Gordough, a large Pit Bull mix, tied up and looking sadly at them, they were shocked by his condition.
Upon seeing the rescuers, Gordough, though covered in rough, infected skin and eyes, showed signs of excitement, wagging his tail in anticipation of their approach. “He’s rough from head to toe. He had skin and eye infections, and was in dire need of medicated baths, eye drops, and ointments to treat them,” the 15/10 Foundation shared on Instagram. Despite his discomfort, Gordough was relieved as the rescue team approached, sensing that they were the saviors he had been waiting for. Her eyes were filled with warmth and gratitude as he released her from the bench.
The team immediately took Gordough to their shelter, where he quickly endeared himself to everyone. “Gordough is a big man; he weighs 115 pounds but has a sweet and gentle demeanor.” Gordough patiently underwent treatment, receiving baths and ointments for his skin. He received love and affection from his guardians, who showered him with hugs. The kindness he received made him feel safe, and soon, Gordough’s demeanor brightened. Gordough’s story of resilience and joy spread, winning hearts online and attracting the attention of the 15/10 Foundation in Los Angeles, California.
This organization, dedicated to supporting shelter dogs with medical needs, stepped in to cover Gordough’s health care costs. Their generosity expanded even further when they decided to help him find his forever home, ensuring he was surrounded by love for the rest of his life.
Today, Gordough is basking in the love of his new family, enjoying hugs, playtime with toys, and peaceful naps. Now fully recovered from her trauma, the pup’s life is full of smiles, love, and fun. Gordough’s journey from a sad beginning to finding eternal happiness is a testament to the power of compassion and the joy of second chances.
