CINCINNATI — ProMach, a global supplier of processing and packaging solutions, announced on Feb. 14 that it has completed the acquisition of Zanichelli Meccanica SpA, better known as Zacmi, an Italian producer of filling, seaming and pasteurization systems. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Since its founding in 1954, Zacmi has established itself as a respected supplier of food packaging equipment, according to ProMach. The family-owned company holds nearly 50 patents for equipment innovation and hygienic design and has supplied more than 2,500 systems in food processing and pet food applications worldwide. Zacmi operates on a global scale with more than 120 employees across its subsidiaries in the United States and R&D and manufacturing sites in Italy.
According to ProMach, its acquisition of Zacmi will expand the company’s portfolio and strengthen its position in the packaging equipment market, especially for filling and sterilization solutions serving food and pet producers. Zacmi will also benefit from the acquisition by having synergies for beverage and powdered products.
“We are pleased to welcome the Zacmi team to ProMach,” said Mark Anderson, president and chief executive officer at ProMach. “The addition of Zacmi further strengthens our position as one of the industry’s leading suppliers of filling and process technology. This acquisition also allows us to add key products to ProMach’s overall packaging equipment portfolio, such as food can filling and sealing. Most importantly, this acquisition further supports our strategic vision of providing customers worldwide with complete solutions and support from a strong global partner.”
The Zacmi team will be integrated into ProMach’s Primary Packaging business, which is led by Doug Stambaugh, business unit president, and currently includes ProMach’s Fogg, Modern, PE Labellers and Zalkin brands.
“The Zacmi team has a reputation for designing strong technical solutions, manufacturing quality equipment, and for providing exceptional customer service,” said Stambaugh. “The addition of Zacmi to our Primary Packaging team not only strengthens our filling and closing portfolio, but also significantly strengthens our ability to offer integrated systems. The opportunity to pair Zacmi’s filling and sealing technology with other ProMach companies such as Allpax, a global filling leader, will allow us to better serve our customers by offering more complete solutions.
Zacmi’s current management, including Managing Director Giorgio Boselli and President Caterina Pagani, will remain with the company following the acquisition. Boselli will join ProMach as vice president and general manager, and Pagani will serve as honorary director.
“We are excited to be part of the industry’s most respected packaging and processing company,” added Boselli. “ProMach has a proven track record of investing in its companies and leveraging its scale to better serve its customers. In ProMach, we have found a partner that will enhance the value of our business and ensure continuity for our customers and our people. Our employees will benefit from ProMach’s broad portfolio of solutions and relationships, and we know this move will ensure Zacmi’s continued growth.”
