Nestlé will invest HUF 55 billion in its pet food plant in Bük, boosting capacity and creating 130 jobs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Friday, state news wire MTI reported .
Nestlé will build a new production unit and install two automated production lines at the base, he said.
The plant will have the capacity to produce 500,000 tons of pet food a year from 2025, up from 200,000 tons in 2019, about 85% of which will be exported.
The state will provide necessary infrastructure developments for investment, the minister added.
Szijjártó noted that the government supported Nestle’s employee training program with HUF 193 million.
About 900 Swiss companies employ more than 30,000 workers in Hungary, he added.
The project is part of Nestlé Hungaria’s five-year, HUF 300 bln investment plan that started in 2020, Nestlé Hungaria managing director Péter Noszek said.
