The ICHTHYS Bass Club of Altoona held the 15th annual Jack Swisher Memorial Fishing Derby on May 20, 2023, at Canoe Creek State Park, Hollidaysburg. Eleven children from the Tyrone Area School District spent the morning and afternoon with club members. The children were given a derby T-shirt, a tackle box full of fishing items and a quality rod and reel. The children were given safety instructions on the proper way to use their fishing equipment by Dale A. Harten, president. Each child was partnered with a club member or club volunteer and fished for several hours. Lunch was provided for all attendees. The club raised about $1,600 for the event.
