A cat was adamant about being less than impressed with a new flavor of pet food he was served—and the resulting video left viewers in hysterics.
Americans love to care for their pets, and many see them as surrogate children. Proof of this came in a 2021 survey of 2,000 pet owners conducted by OnePoll on behalf of pet food brand I And Love And You, with 61 percent of respondents saying they considered their child they are their pets.
Not only that, 29 percent said they even go so far as to throw birthday parties for their four-legged companions. Ashley Warwick may not be reaching for some but, writing in a post shared on TikTok, the children’s book author and illustrator admitted her cat Lucky is a little on the “spoiled” side.
It didn’t manifest itself in the form of an elaborate birthday party, but in a 14-second video clip shared on the pet owner’s social media platform.
This captures Lucky’s reaction to a new flavor of cat food and it’s fair to say he’s not happy about it. In the video, which can be viewed here, Lucky is seen approaching a plate of wet food.
Lucky smells the food but he obviously doesn’t like what he smells. Instead of trying to bite, he instead proceeds to scratch the floor several times.
“Are you all done?” Warwick asked audibly as Lucky turned around and sniffed the food again. The answer was a resounding “yes,” with the picky cat continuing his floor-scratching antics afterward. Scratching that floor doesn’t stop until the food is gone.
“She tried a new flavor today and obviously didn’t like it,” Warwick wrote in the on-screen caption, adding “don’t worry she got something else…spoiled.”
At the time of writing, the video has been viewed more than 800,000 times, with viewers commenting on the relatability of the scenario and the hilarity of Lucky’s behavior.
One viewer loved how it was an “immediate no” from Lucky while another commented: “Is he saying it’s in the litter box?”
A third commented: “I feel so personal when my cat does it as if I made the food myself ” while a fourth suggested it was Lucky’s way of saying: “I want to talk to the manager.”
Whatever the case, Lucky certainly wasn’t hungry, though Warwick might think twice before switching his cat food again.
