Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) intends to “Empty the Shelters” from February 7-11, 2024 with a waived adoption fee for dogs 6 months and older. This event, sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation, is exclusive to Maricopa County.
“We are excited to start the new year with a special adoption that will help our animals find loving homes in time for Valentine’s Day,” said Kim Powell, Communications Supervisor for MCACC. “We are grateful to the BISSELL Pet Foundation for once again partnering with us to fight pet homelessness.”
Since January, more than 1,600 animals have arrived at MCACC. Currently, there are more than 800 dogs waiting to find new homes. MCACC hopes hundreds of dogs will find homes during the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” Adoption Event.

DETAILS: The BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” event is the largest funded adoption event in the country. This life-saving event began in 2016 with the goal of encouraging more families to choose adoption. More than 204,000 pets have found loving homes since its inception. “Empty the Shelters” is BISSELL Pet Foundation’s largest program, working with 730 animal health organizations in 49 states and Canada to reduce adoption fees.
