SAN ANTONIO (December 14, 2023) – As the holiday season approaches, San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is seeing more and more residents struggling to feed their pets. The shelter is joining forces with City Council members for a friendly competition that will help at-risk pet parents feed their companion animals.
The project, “Kindness Unleashed: 10 Council Districts, 1 Pawsitive Goal,” hopes to help needy San Antonio pets with donated bags of kibble and canned food. By January 12, 2024, SAACS expects to receive at least 5 thousand pounds of pet food to be distributed through the department’s Field Enforcement and Community Animal Support & Assistance (CASA) divisions, working with pet sitters to ensure compliance and humane pets. care.
All Council districts have confirmed participation and the district that donates the most pet food during the month-long drive will earn bragging rights and the inaugural SAACS Golden Paw Award. Residents can check which council district they live in via the City’s website.
