ALEXANDRIA — Mother Nature seems unwilling to cooperate this year. Due to unseasonable temperatures and inconsistent ice conditions, Alexandria Industries has announced the cancellation of its annual ice fishing tournament, Fishing for the Cure.
The event was scheduled for February 17 but hot weather intervened.
According to information in a news release from the company, all funds raised from this year’s entry ticket sales will go directly to the Alexandria Industries team’s contribution to the Douglas County Relay for Life.
“Because cancer never stops, neither do our fundraising efforts,” said the company’s marketing coordinator, Cindy Frederick. “We may not be able to fish, but we’re still making a difference for those fighting cancer. Our raffle drawing will still take place.”
Raffle tickets can be purchased at Elden’s Fresh Foods, Paul’s Small Engine, Christopherson Bait, Osakis True Value, or Alexandria Industries.
If you would like to make a direct contribution instead of purchasing a raffle ticket, contact Alexandria Industries at 320-244-4576.
“We know many of you are as determined to find a cure for cancer as we are,” Frederick said. “Thanks for making a difference and see you on the ice in 2025!”
