Pets were tempted by a variety of tasty treats of their choice at a treat tasting event Jan. 27 at Amherst Tractor Supply Company.
The event opens at 11 a.m. at the TSC store, located at 1971 Cooper Foster Park Road, and not only offers free treatment for dogs, but also includes a veterinary clinic for low-cost vaccinations, said Ashley Kaspar, assistant manager.
Pets as small as a teacup-sized Yorkshire Terrier in a warm sweater and as large as an American Bandogge were given the opportunity to try a variety of pet treats sold at the Tractor Supply Company.
“At Tractor Supply, we believe in giving your pets a choice,” said Trevor Rindfleisch, manager of the Amherst Tractor Supply store. “From our exclusive 4health® brand to many other quality products, we carry a wide variety of pet food and treatment options to ensure your four-
legged friends stay healthy and happy all year round.”
The free event is open to the public and features treats made by the Retriever brand, a popular brand for dog food and treats, and Temptations, for cats, to name a few.
The festive table featuring treats is decorated with decorations such as stuffed animals mixed with bowls of biscuits and more.
The event was held in conjunction with the veterinary clinic that the store regularly hosts.
The veterinary clinic offers vaccinations to pet owners at a discounted price and has become a popular choice for people who want to take care of their pets’ medical needs while saving money, said said Kaspar.
Kaspar expects between 20 and 30 pets to come through the doors for not only the treat tasting event, but the clinic as well, he said.
In addition to dogs and cats, people also brought domestic animals, such as goats, he added.
“The vets here are always really good,” Kaspar said.
“We’re always happy to get the babies in,” she said of the young animals who often come to the clinic for their first vaccinations.
Vaccinating pets at a young age is important for controlling diseases, Kaspar said.
Kaspar, the proud owner of a dog and nine cats, says, “I have a soft spot for animals.”\
Phyllis Wein, a customer, stopped by the store to buy chicken jerky for her dog, a 10-year-old pitbull-shar pei mixed breed, who prefers duck jerky, Wein said.
