Petco Health and Wellness Company has launched a new, customizable pet health insurance offering with a nationwide insurance leader to better meet the needs of pet parents.
The co-brand Petco | Nationwide pet insurance, now available on the pet retailer’s website, allows guests to build a policy that fits their pet’s individual needs and budget. The new offer provides valuable coverage for unexpected veterinary expenses resulting from accidental injuries including broken bones, wounds, poisoning and other incidents.
Pet parents can also choose optional coverage for veterinary expenses related to the diagnosis and treatment of illness or disease. Wellness is also offered as an optional coverage to help families manage the costs of routine and preventive care such as checkups, vaccinations, flea and tick prevention and more.
Pet parents can further customize their policy with reimbursement from 50% to 90% of all eligible veterinary expenses, flexible annual deductible options from $100 to $500, and limits range from $500 to no limit. Petco | Plans are available nationwide for dogs and cats, as well as many birds and other exotic animals, including popular pets like reptiles and rodents. Accident plans in some areas start at $16/month for dogs and $9/month for cats.

Once enrolled, members receive exclusive discounts and savings on veterinary services available through Petco’s network of more than 280 Vetco Total Care hospitals and approximately 1,450 weekly mobile Vetco Vaccinations Clinics across the US The partnership also offers more than 1.2 million members of Nationwide’s broader pet insurance network a first-of-its-kind discount of 10% when visiting a Vetco Total Care hospital or Vetco Vaccination Clinic. The discount applies to all services provided during the visit, even those that may not be eligible for reimbursement based on the member’s coverage selection.
Based in San Diego, Calif., Petco operates more than 1,500 pet care centers throughout the US, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
