From musician and business owner Rachel Rosencome in Dog Collarswhich was named in honor of RosenThe 2003 New York City grindcore band CANINEwhich featured two female vocalists, Basil and Budgiea pair of beloved pitbull terriers. CANINE had three successful albums, including a split seven-inch single with GATHERING OF CATTLES in 2005. Upon the passing of Basil in 2011 and Budgie in 2016, the band was put on hold, but the ethos remains; our dogs (and cats) make for some of our best friends, therefore Racheldive into Dog Collars.
Also performed in bands with INDECISION, MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD and more, as well as volunteering at an animal shelter in Jersey City, New Jersey for 12 years training/taking care of/photographing dogs, in other words, Rosen is the best candidate to be assigned the opportunity to create rigid collars, leashes, lanyards and more. All items are also made in-house, giving the pieces a more personal touch.
While our bipedal headbangers have all the merch options in the world, we often can’t help our dogs and cats express their love for heavier genres; a problem that has been eliminated thanks to dogthe California small business that’s badass at heart.
