The Idaho Department of Fish and Game invites landowners, farmers, and producers who are open to or interested in allowing hunting, fishing, and trapping on their private lands to participate in the Access Yes! Program. This initiative is designed to facilitate public sportsmen’s access to private lands for these activities.
Participants in the Access Yes! The program will receive compensation on a per-acre basis and may also benefit from incentives for habitat improvement through the Habitat Improvement Program. An important feature of the program is that landowners are protected by the State Recreational Liability Statute, which provides them with a shield from liability related to these activities.
The department is currently accepting applications for the program until March 1, with successful bids selected and landowners notified by April 1. It’s important to note that the program does not imply unlimited access on the property. Landowners retain control over access conditions, including timing, types of harvest allowed, species that can be hunted or fished, and travel restrictions on the property.
For more information or to obtain an application in the Clearwater Region, interested parties are encouraged to contact Justin Jensen, the Access Yes! Program Coordinator, at 208-750-4275 or by email at [email protected].
