Molly and Sadie’s Mobile Pet Spa offers grooming services for small, medium and large dogs in the Plover and Stevens Point area.
PLOVER – A new business in central Wisconsin aims to take the stress and anxiety out of dog grooming appointments.
Molly and Sadie’s Mobile Pet Spa opened on October 20, offering grooming services for small, medium and large dogs right in their owners’ driveways.
Andy Lynch said in the early days of the pandemic, he and his wife, Dani, and their three children decided to add a dog to their family. When they arrive at the Marathon County Humane Society, they meet Molly and Sadie, two dogs who are tied up and looking for a home. The Lynches came home with two dogs instead of one.
Molly is a rambunctious and spunky German shepherd who, while energetic and loving, is also anxious. Sadie is a coonhound mix who loves to snuggle.
Lynch said she quickly learned finding a groomer for Molly and Sadie was a nightmare. It’s hard to take a few hours a day and get the same dog in a car, when many local groomers are booked solid with many other families adopting dogs during the pandemic as well. Molly’s anxiety in an environment with a lot of additional stimuli at a groomer made the whole experience difficult for her, she said.
As Lynch began researching options, she saw the benefits of offering a mobile service that created a soothing, spa-like experience for dogs. He traveled to San Antonio and test drove and bought a small bus ready for mobile grooming. Lynch said he left his career in the food and beverage industry in May to focus entirely on the grooming business.
Lynch said she and her husband spent a lot of time looking for a name for the business, but in the end her husband suggested naming it after their dogs. After all, they do business for families like themselves with older dogs or dogs with anxiety. They wanted to cater to dogs like Molly and Sadie, so Molly and Sadie’s Mobile Pet Spa was born.
So far, Lynch said the community has been very supportive, and Molly and Sadie’s Mobile Pet Spa is booking up a week or two.
How does this work?
People who want to make an appointment can contact Molly and Sadie’s Mobile Pet Spa by email, phone, Facebook Messenger or through the company’s website. Lynch said they connect to get more information about the dogs, such as any heath concerns or anything the groomer should know. After making an appointment, Lynch said the company’s groomer will come, knock on the door and take the leashed dog, or dogs, to the bus parked in the driveway.
The mobile pet spa offers organic bath products, low-stress blow dry with high-velocity pet dryer, brush, nail trim with buff, ear cleaning, pad moisturizing and more services for dogs. Lynch says they want to focus on offering a unique and unique spa-like experience, catering to every dog.
“It shouldn’t be scary,” Lynch said. “Should be fun.”
Lynch says they want to bring luxury care to people’s driveways.
How far will the mobile pet spa go?
Lynch said the groomer usually stays within 10 to 15 miles of the Stevens Point and Plover area.
All appointments, however, are weather and road dependent, Lynch said, as client and employee safety is the primary concern.
What next?
Eventually, Lynch wants to expand into central Wisconsin, including Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau and Amherst.
He also hopes to eventually expand to include more vehicles and groomers. There are options to use different vehicles like buses, vans or trailers and outfit them for repair services.
