When the rescuers from Sidewalk Specials found Noah, they expected a fierce and aggressive dog. Instead, they discover a scared, gentle soul in desperate need of love and care. Noah was rumored to be vicious, and that’s why he was disliked and kept outside. But this couldn’t be further from the truth! The puppy needs a new start in life and people who have faith in him. His owner failed him miserably, leaving him to rot in the yard while he continued his business. Noah was not an afterthought; he was not even thought about!
Noah was found in a dirty, overcrowded kennel with barely any room to move. It was clear that no one had cleaned the cage in a long time, and Noah was scared. Rescuers had to turn her back and gently pull her out of her cage, as she was too afraid to move on her own. They wonder if he can walk, given his frozen state.
They took him straight to the animal clinic. The first thing the vet did was put Noah on arthritis medicine. The poor dog suffered from old age, poor diet, and freezing winters that damaged his bones. His advanced and untreated arthritis caused him severe pain. Then Noah was given a bath, probably the first in his life, which made him smell good and helped him feel more comfortable.
Throughout the rescue and time at the vet, Noah didn’t cause a single problem. His sweet and gentle demeanor made it clear that someone out there wanted to give this old soul a loving home. That person is a woman named Jacqui, who has adopted several old dogs and built a “retirement home” for them. At the time, she had five dogs, and when she saw Noah, she knew she wanted to add him to her family. However, at first she was worried if he could take care of her, given her condition.
Noah was barely moving and full of pain. He is also sensitive in certain areas, making it difficult to administer his medication. But after a few weeks, the girl got used to what Noah needed, and things became easier. Noah began to imitate the other dogs in the house and became more comfortable in his new surroundings.
Over time, Noah became a happy and playful dog. He follows his new mother everywhere and likes to sit behind her desk while she works. Noah’s mobility has improved significantly, and he thrives in his new home. Jacqui ‘loves him to bits,’ and can’t imagine life without him now that he’s part of the family.
Thanks to rescuers and wonderful people like Jacqui, unwanted dogs like Noah will live out their golden years surrounded by love and affection. We are eternally grateful!
